Using a Baby Carrier While You Work
Why
are more and more parents turning towards using baby carriers?
Developing a close relationship with their baby is a common concern of many busy parents. With so many families now needing both parents to work, being able to spend time with your precious baby is sometimes difficult to do when there are a thousand-and-one chores to do when you are at home. But a simple solution to this is to carry your baby while you work.
Not all baby carriers are designed for this purpose but there are many great ones that are. Carriers that allow you to carry your baby on your back are a great start. These allow you to have both hands free and the baby will not hinder your work or be in any danger of getting hurt. Your baby does not even need to be awake for this to be beneficial, as just being close to you and hearing your heart and the rhythm of your breathing is a great way to develop closeness. The closeness and security that this simple habit gives your baby is a great way to develop feelings of contentment and calmness for your baby.
Only up until recently have western cultures stopped carrying their child for most of the day. Many village cultures still practice this and will often continue to work while their baby is happily resting on their back. Babies who feel safe and secure next to their mother or father often grow up to be more happy and confident children and adults because of this security they developed when they were younger. Unfortunately, western cultures have lost touch with following their natural instincts and have also been more recently conditioned to believe that they should regularly leave their child alone so it can become more resilient. But in fact, studies are showing this has quite the opposite affect.
To make sure you are developing an everlasting bond with your child, carry your child often and keep him or her close to you as often as possible. The best way to do this is by using a baby sling or baby carrier. Search for the one that best suits your needs and you will find that keeping your baby close to your heart is a very rewarding experience.
